Getting rid of a bad habit is tough, getting into a good one is a thousand times tougher.

And I’ve always loved to write, just never managed to make it into a habit. My science-fiction novel has been stuck in page 13 for the better part of ten years now, my other blogs were inconsistent at best… I have made some progress in the form of doing a daily retro in DayOne and have an ongoing streak of almost two years.
But a wise man said that, if you’re doing something good, talk about it, so this here is me reinventing myself in the digital world and making sure that it reaches an audience worth maintaining a habit for.
The trigger for this reinvention was my setting a ridiculously ambitious running goal for the next two years, the progress of which I will report through this site, be it by posting frequently or adding features to it, like countdowns and progress graphs that are fed automatically (a hobby of mine). As a bonus, I will report on how I am upgrading and updating the site with new features, should you need any ideas yourself.
Here are the goals:
- SportScheck Lauf on July 2nd 2023 » 40m or less (10km)
- Munich Half-Marathon on October 8th 2023 » 1h25m or less (21,1km)
- São Silvestre race in São Paulo on December 31st 2023 » 1h or less (15km)
- New York Marathon on November 3rd 2024 » 3h15m or less (42,2km)
Nice, right? Well, not for the dummy who promised never to run a full-distance marathon after Berlin… That is, until a friend beat my time by five minutes and triggered my macho instincts.
Men have many qualities… Learning might not be one of them.
Or do they: reaching these goals and dealing with less suffering will warrant a change in my diet (expect some Instagramming), learning new habits and fighting hardest to listen to that little voice inside my head that whispers: go
Expect my weight to be part of the dashboard as well. Vanity is a product of shame, after all. Also expect short introductions to different categories and features of this site in the next weeks and months.
PS: if you came here looking for my CV, which was previously here, just click on the resumé link at the top of the page.
Best,
K
